This offshoot of Tokyo’s famed Bar High Five is mixing up Japanese-style cocktails within Attire House in Central



Attire House is set to become the it destination for gentlemen about town with the opening of Bar De Luxe. Already encompassing a men’s outfitter, tailor and barber shop, this swish Japanese cocktail bar has been added to the mix – post-shave tipple, anyone?

Ueno Hidetsugu, the owner of Tokyo’s legendary Bar High Five, has collaborated with Japanese architect Jin Hidaka and Attire House founders Brandon Chau and Roger Chan to bring this special mixology experience to life. Ueno-san’s protégé Yuriko Naganuma, who is fast rising up the ranks in the fiercely competitive Tokyo cocktail scene, has been named head bartender at Bar De Luxe (as an aside, we’re thrilled to see a female bartender strutting her stuff behind the bar). If you want to see the master himself in action, Ueno-san will be in the house from 23–25 January in the evenings.

Yuriko has crafted a range of cocktails exclusively for Bar De Luxe’s opening such as The Hidden Gem ($168), made with Nikka From the Barrel whisky, Japanese yomogi herb liqueur, Averna Amaro and sugar cane syrup, and Full Bloom, which combines either Kirin Fuji Sanroku Whisky ($178) or Bulldog London Dry Gin ($158) with cherry blossom liqueur, Luxardo Maraschino and lemon juice or homemade roasted tea bitters. Misty ($148) is another winner, created with Nanbu Bijin sake, 6100 vodka, DOM Bénédictine and honey liqueur.

Light bites are also available if hunger pangs strike (think Ibérico ham, foie gras, cheese and olives).
