The city’s biannual HK Restaurant Week, with top restaurants offering specially priced set menus, is set for 17–26 February 2017

We can’t believe it’s HK Restaurant Week’s 12th edition – that equates to six years of biannual feasting at affordable prices. Organised in collaboration with online reservation platform DiningCity and China Construction Bank (Asia), HK Restaurant Week’s latest edition, scheduled for 17–26 February, is really 10 days of wining and dining at prices that won’t bank the bank.

This year, more than 100 restaurants will be participating, offering set lunch and dinner menus (minimum three courses) showcasing the chefs’ signature dishes at reduced prices. There are two menu categories: $ equates to $118 for lunch and $298 for dinner while the $$ category prices are $198 for lunch and $398 for dinner. During HK Restaurant Week’s 10 gut-busting days, many of Foodie’s fave new restaurants will be featured, including Buenos Aires Polo Club, Mercato, TokyoLima, Bizou and Seafood Room. This is great opportunity for food lovers to taste some of the best food dished up at some of the most talked-about restaurants in town.

We had a sneak preview of Bizou's dinner-only Restaurant Week menu ($398; add $20 for coffee and $50 for a glass of house red or white wine). It was simply scrumptious, and there was certainly no skimping on the portion sizes. We tucked into a hefty Boston-style crab cake – just the way we like it: heavy on the crab – with a spicy chipotle aioli that was a great complement to the crustacean's fresh, clean flavour; a well-seasoned and grilled aged grass-fed NY strip steak dripping with Café de Paris butter and accompanied by fried lemon potatoes that could give even the best French fries a serious run for their money and, for dessert, coconut chocolate bread pudding with caramel ice cream, coconut crunch and sea salt: all our favourite sweet flavours melded into one heavenly pud.
