When compared to Western meals, Asian meals focus predominantly on the use of fruits and vegetables, rice and other grains and seafood and poultry. Herbs and spices are also commonly used. Combining these ingredients allows them to come together in blissful harmony in your mouth.

Here are some popular Asian ingredients and their documented health benefits:

Turmeric

  • anti-inflammatory
  • antioxidant
  • antimutagenic
  • antimicrobial
  • anticancer agent

In one study, the use of 1,500g of turmeric per day for 30 days by a group of smokers reduced the amount of mutagens (something that changes our DNA and increases the likelihood of us getting cancer) found in their urine.

In another study, a dose of 144mg/day given for eight weeks to a group of people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) was found to relieve their abdominal pain.
