New in Causeway Bay: Sensu by GOSANGO

Occupying an entire floor of Tower 535 on Jaffe Road in Causeway Bay, casual, contemporary all-day diner Sensu by GOSANGO joins its siblings, hotpot spot J POT and premium yakiniku restaurant Wagyu Vanne – with the neighbourly trio specialising in premium Hiyama Kuroge Wagyu from Japan.

Put your feet up – Sensu’s inviting interior space

The highlights of Sensu’s menu come post-lunch with, first (pictured at top), the deluxe afternoon tea (daily, 2:30–5pm; $288/2), packed with a great range of Asian-inspired savouries and sweets, from crab monaka, shrimp toast and Hiyama A5 Wagyu croquette to tiramisu, lemon tart, homemade green tea and jasmine tea ice cream, praline eclair and vanilla- and orange-flavoured scones with whipped cream and homemade blueberry jam.

But we were there to try Sensu’s happy hour (daily, 5:30–7:30pm), where any drink order, alcoholic or virgin, brings with it a Hiyama A5 Wagyu mini burger on the house.

Mid-Summer mocktail

We like that the mocktails at Sensu get just as much care and attention as their alcoholic counterparts. We tried the Mid-Summer mocktail ($88), a tangy, refreshing and oh-so-pretty concoction made with pineapple, mint, apple, jasmine tea syrup, rose and raspberry sorbet. The ice “cubes” shaped like a mini wrench and screw are absolutely adorable, if a bit random for this particular drink.

Snack combo

In addition to the range of craft beers, floral and fruit teas, sake-based cocktails and creative mocktails on offer during happy happy hour, there’s an unbeatable snack combo ($188) available till late. Get ready – it includes one drink and snacks of deep-fried tofu, salted seaweed salad, sea urchin potato salad, sakura shrimp cake, deep-fried eel bones, Hiyama A5 Wagyu sushi, Wagyu boneless short rib skewer (the winner for us), Wagyu mini burger and Wagyu beef and cheese spring roll. That’s a whole lotta snacking for your buck – and your dinner sorted too.
