Cathal Kiely, the man behind popular venues Solas, Kila, Rula Bula and Rayne in Central has expanded to Kennedy Town and plans to open a local neighborhood eatery inspired by one of his favourite areas in his home country of Ireland, Kinsale.
Just a stone’s throw away from the water’s edge on New Praya, Kinsale will offer ‘family-focused comfort food’. The restaurant designed by Kinney Chan is a 3000sq ft space and includes a semi-private room for larger parties at the back of the high-ceilinged room.
“As a resident of Kennedy Town, and one who eats out often with my own family, I wanted to create something that delivered on a ‘neighborhood’ experience. For me that meant it had to be service orientated to the point where the staff know clients names, great value and with food interesting enough for people to visit often without getting bored. I have always believed a small, focused menu with great daily specials works well. I am lucky to have a team that has worked with me for the last 9 years of operating in Hong Kong. In terms of the ambiance, a critical part of the design brief was for everyone to have that feeling of being ‘at home’ so we have ensured there is ample space and everything is comfortable.” said Kiely.
The venue is scheduled to open mid August. We can’t wait!
