Mrs. Pound was officially unveiled to the public last Tuesday with a big shebang of a grand opening. Foodie Club were lucky enough to secure a few spots for their night of ‘debauchery’ and turned up en masse to sample their exclusive cocktails. We were blessed by the appearance of guest mixologists Tom Wood, Michael Callahan, Jon O’Toole and Dave Jony who all rolled up their sleeves and made a good old ruckus behind the bar. The food didn’t go amiss either and their signature rending baos, meat skewers and stir-fried prawns made their way round the party, accompanied by a few raunchy cabaret performances throughout the night.
If you still haven’t been to Mrs. Pound’s yet, the speakeasy is hidden behind the facade of a traditional Chinese stamp shop, only to be revealed by a push of a secret button. Once inside Mr. Ming’s stamp shop, you’ll find a mixture of retro memorabilia of a Hong Kong long past with 60s pin-up girls on the walls. Head down there to enjoy a tipple or three and order a few rending boas while you’re taking in weirdness of the world behind Mr. Ming’s stamp shop.
