Upcycling is a process to convert used, disposable and discarded materials into completely new, good quality products with high environmental value.

From 28 March to 22 April 2015, Upcycled products made by members of St James’ Settlement Sheltered Workshop, a non-profit multi-social service agency, will be sold at the pop-up turned LIFE! Shop at Langham Place Hong Kong. In addition, there will also be an upcycling demonstration day at the store on 18 April, which is open for the public.

Image titleSignature products include handmade wine cork boards, magnets and pens made with wine corks collected from weddings and banquets held at Langham Place Hotel. Portable Boombottle Speakers made from used plastic bottles as well as wallpaper wallets and leftover carpet Laptop Sleeves will be available as well. There are no limits to upcycling! Profits generated from the pop-up store will help fund the members’ training allowance.

The upcycling demonstration will be given by St James’ members on 18 April from 12:00pm – 8:00pm. Guests are invited to DIY on the spot together with the NGO’s members when they purchase a wine cork product.
