The first of this year’s guest wellness experts at the Mandarin Oriental will be detox expert and health coach Jennifer Thompson, who is also a certified iridologist (yes, we had to Google this; iridology involves the study of the eyes in order to diagnose nutritional deficiencies and imbalances – fascinating!). From 22 February until 2 March, Jennifer will be available for one-on-one consultations at The Mandarin Spa. Each session includes advice on nutritional detox, vitamins and minerals and tips on how to achieve a successful raw-food and chemical-free diet. The cost of each 55-minute consultation is $1,500, and you’ll leave with a specially blended detox juice for healthy sipping. If you’re interested in group bonding, Jennifer will also offer two 90-minute group workshops($500): Detox and Green Smoothies at 7pm on Monday, 24 February and Raw Foods and Superfoods at 7pm on Wednesday, 26 February.

Starting from today, you can also go the whole hog (so to speak) and book The Mandarin Spa’s full-day detox package ($5,500). You’ll feel totally and utterly invigorated after a day spent enjoying a series of detox juices and soaking up the spa’s luxurious heat and water facilities. Also included are a one-hour personal training session, an hour-long hydro bath and wrap, a one-on-one iridology session with Jennifer, a 90-minute Detox and Revive treatment at The Mandarin Spa and a cool-sounding Detox Pedicure at The Mandarin Salon (the foot is one of the most toxic parts of the body – who knew?). The 90-minute Detox and Revive treatment($1,600 – to include dry body brushing, lymphatic massage, cocoon wrap and detox juice) and 75-minute Detox Pedicure ($550) may also be booked separately.

A finally healthy suggestion from The Mandarin Oriental – available from now until 2 March – is to pop by Café Causette for a detox juice designed by Jennifer Thompson ($78 each). The nutrient-rich juices range from the Digestive Balance, made from papaya, mango, pineapple and lime juices, to the Immuniser, a tasty mix of coconut water, cantaloupe and grape.
