Upon entering, your senses are met with the scent of barrel-aged whisky, dim candlelight and old-world antiques. Light laughs and bluesy music serenade the night, young as the day is long. 1890s London? Close; Stockton, one of Wyndham Street’s best kept – and most hidden secrets – is where it’s at.
Tucked away from the bustling crowds of Central and up an unassuming flight of stairs sits Stockton, a little gem of a bar that oozes exclusivity. Brought to you by Maximal Concepts, the same folk behind the likes of Fish & Meat, Mott 32 and Brickhouse, Stockton is jazzing things up this August with an oyster and champagne promotion, new bar nibbles and music that will make all occasions here one to remember.
On Tuesday for $250, treat yourself to some freshly shucked French oysters and a complimentary glass of Delamotte Brut Champagne, following the bar’s philosophy of sourcing from small boutique champagne producers. The tipple is the perfect aperitif to the molluscs, its acidity enhancing the flavours of these succulent pearls.
New bar snacks are also up for grabs, each boosting the sophistication and quality of a gourmet meal. Signatures include the artichokes with crispy fresh spring onion and mint aioli and salmon rillette with chives, peppercorns, trout roe and rye crackers.

Groove to the beat of DJ performances by Sol Passion on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 p.m. till 1:30 a.m., the music group’s funky retro sounds layered with a quirky modern twist.
