Popsy Modern Kitchen, a new restaurant that aims to meld fine art and dining together into tasteful dishes, is set to open this month. Their bold statement is to “do with refined food what Warhol did with fine art, making it an accessible part of everyday life”. The mastermind behind the new concept restaurant is food pairing specialist Jennifer Chung, who brings her art background in Europe and her culinary passion into the artfully decked out dishes. The restaurant follows the success of Chung’s first venture, a private dining gallery known as The Popsy Room, but in a grander style: in the expansive 80 seat space of a sun-lit dining room at The Wellington in Central.
Expect to enjoy open-top deep-fried devilled eggs, described to be “coated with a golden green layer of asparagus bread crumbs”, or the Popsy signature 36 hour crafted lobster bisque with bubble milk foam, as well as creative desserts resembling statues more then delectable sweets. Their attention to detail can be seen from the making of their sauces alone, which are homemade and created from scratch in the span of two days. The team at Popsy Modern Kitchen promises to deliver a unique experience inspired by Picasso’s cubist take on the world. Just like art, the meaning behind their promise is open to your own interpretation.
