Yields: 4 mugs

Prep time: 5 mins

Cooking time: 20 mins

  • 2 medium-sized apples
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • 4 mugfuls of cider
  • 4 shots of bourbon

  1. Peel and dice the apples into small chunks. In a saucepan, add the apples and sugar with a small splash of water. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger and simmer for around 10 – 15 minutes until the apple pieces are soft. If the saucepan looks like it’s drying out, just add another splash of water while it’s cooking.
  2. Remove from the heat and divide the apple chunks into four mugs. In the same saucepan, add the cider and heat until just before boiling point.
  3. Take off the heat and stir in the bourbon.

Tip: Add whipped cream on top for a little extra indulgence or a cinnamon stick to garnish.
