Journalist and traveller Cheryl Tiu is hosting Hong Kong’s first Cross Cultures event to celebrate Filipino cuisine—an eight course dinner by some of Hong Kong’s top Filipino chefs, which will be held at 42nd Davis in Kennedy Town on the 13th and 14th of July, 2016. Through (sharing) food, the event aims to help build intercultural relations and create a stronger global community.
Cross Cultures is available for two nights, collaborating with Hong Kong’s most respected Filipino chefs like Jimle Catapang of Linguini Fini, Jerome Santosof Rocco’s Pizzeria, and Roy San Antonio and Roy Ocampo of 42nd Davis.
Special guest Dedet de la Fuente of Pepita’s Kitchen will also be serving her specialty: the crispy-skinned lechon (suckling pig), which has been voted as “the tastiest dish in Asia” at the 2014 Chowzter Awards in London. Dedet’s Super Suman, which is an original dessert made with sticky rice and topped with different Filipino sweets (like pastillas, macapuno balls, and peanut kisses), will make an appearance as well.
As for the drinks, Philippine-inspired cocktails will be served up by award winning mixologist Joe Villanueva at the event. Expect fun cocktails like Balete Drive, made with Manille Liqueur de Calamansi, and Paradise Splash, made with Paradise Mango Rum.
Price: $588 (plus 10% service charge) per head inclusive of cocktails
Costs: cocktails begin at 7pm and dinner begins at 7:30pm.
