So, when someone mentions contemporary American bar and restaurant Lily & Bloom, what are the first things that spring to mind? Its lobster mac ‘n’ cheese? Burgers? Fried chicken and biscuits? Don't get us wrong, we’re fans of all of the above, but sometimes we need a healthy breather, and that’s where Bloom’s newly transformed Lunch Market Feast saves the day.
With its array of colourful salads – many of which are gluten free – cold seafood and charcuterie, the restaurant’s Lunch Market Feast, available on weekdays only, is a bargain for $178 per person, to include as many helpings of house-smoked salmon and poached shrimp as your heart desires. The buffet’s infamous mac ‘n’ cheese and meat stations are also still in place should you wish to amp up your calorie intake – we sampled a scrumptious mac ‘n’ cheese with shrimp and pesto and finger-licking-good fried chicken with sweet chilli sauce on our most recent visit.
For $298 per person, you can upgrade to a three-course lunch that includes the Market Feast, three oysters and a main course. We recommend ordering the pan-seared salmon for the main; we never seem to achieve such a crispy skin when we’re cooking salmon at home. Gluten-free pasta is also available. All lunch sets include a dessert of the day and coffee, tea or juice.
