Not content with his three Michelin stars, Chef Alvin Leung (aka the Demon Chef, nicknamed such for his experimental X-treme Chinese cuisine) has expanded his acclaimed restaurant – now called Bo Innovation: The Hong Kong Story (that’s a mouthful) – to larger, more immersive premises in Wanchai. The new space is an ode to the chef’s passion for his hometown; it was designed by local studio AB Concept, with the furnishings (right down to the soup bowls and dinner knives) crafted by local artisans, a sadly dying breed of Made-in-Hong-Kong masters. We’re told visual projections are also part of the design. Bib N Hops, the chef’s Korean concept, is set to replace the former Bo Innovation premises later this year.
And that’s not all for the Demon Chef this year: Bo Shanghai has recently opened, and there are plans in the works for an outlet called Street Food at HK International Airport. This leaves us with one question: does he ever sleep?
