American Jarrett Wrisley’s Bangkok hotspot Soul Food Mahanakorn spotlights the regional flavours and laid-back vibe of Thailand’s sadly disappearing family-run shophouse restaurants, and we couldn’t be more excited that soon we’ll be able to try the chef’s takes on smoked duck larb, southern Thai samosas and Burmese pork belly curry here in the 852.

Soul Food’s Hong Kong outpost began its life as a pop-up here this summer, and due to its overwhelming success, Black Sheep Restaurants decided to make it a permanent part of their restaurant family – an ever-expanding portfolio of some of Foodie’s favourite restaurants including Buenos Aires Polo Club, Carbone, Chôm Chôm and Ho Lee Fook. Black Sheep founders Christopher Mark and Syed Asim Hussain seem to nail every restaurant they open, so we have a sneaking suspicion Soul Food HK will become our new Thai local.

Soul Food HK is set to open on Elgin Street, Soho, in autumn 2016. Watch this space!
