In addition to their delicious food and inviting ambience, we have an even more pressing reason to visit Chef Gianni Caprioli’s Italian restaurants in Hong Kong. Along with 600 restaurants and chefs around the world who are fundraising for Italy, all proceeds from the sale of each amatriciana pasta dish at Giando and Già Trattoria will benefit the victims of the recent devastating earthquake in Amatrice. Diners can head to either Giando for a hearty serving of rigatoni all’Amatriciana or to Già Trattoria for Chef Caprioli’s version of bucatini all’Amatriciana. Both dishes are priced at $158, with 100% of each sale from now until 30 September 2016 donated to Italy’s earthquake victims.
DiVino Group are also helping to spread the love – their restaurants Carpaccio, DiVino and Spasso will be donating $20 from the sale of each bucatini all'Amatriciana dish ($198) to GVCI (Gruppo Virtuale Cuochi Italiani), which collects funds worldwide for earthquake survivors. In addition, DiVino Patio will donate $10 from each dish sold from their Roma Nel Piatto menu to the fund.
Spaghetti all’Amatriciana is the signature dish of the Italian town of Amatrice, a rustic, tomato-based pasta flavoured with guanciale (cured pork cheek) and Pecorino cheese – simple yet beautiful. Around Italy, thousands of people are chowing down on bowls of the stuff in solidarity with their beleaguered countrymen. Now other restaurants around the world are taking up the call to aid Italy’s quake victims by eating pasta.
