Initially slated to make its HK debut last November, celebrity chef Luke Nguyen's Moi Moi, a contemporary comfort food Vietnamese restaurant, has now just opened its chic and edgy doors. The star chef has teamed up with ZS Hospitality Group for this first venture in the lobby of Nexxus Building in Central.

The well-known Vietnamese-Australian chef opened his first restaurant, Red Lantern in Sydney, at the age of only 23 and has built an empire that includes numerous award-winning cookbooks, restaurants and television shows. He also founded a cookery school in Ho Chi Minh City to offer visitors a culinary and cultural journey through Vietnam.

We hear that the new Moi Moi will dish out traditional, well-loved family recipes as well as favourite Vietnamese street foods. For lunch, a monthly rotating set will be on offer, priced at an extremely reasonable HK$168 + 10% for two courses (+$38 to include dessert). Starter choices include Vietnamese netted spring rolls and green mango salad while Wagyu beef pho, banh mi baguettes and vermicelli noodle bowls are amongst the main course options.

The dinner menu is à la carte, featuring signature dishes such as Aunty 5's rice cakes ($148) – pan-fried rice cakes topped with tiger prawns, caramelised pork neck and pork floss – green-tea-smoked duck breast salad ($138), chargrilled lemongrass Wagyu beef wraps ($148), whole fried yellowtail snapper (market price) and avocado tart with shiso and honeycomb ($88). A dinner tasting menu priced at just $428 per person (+$258 for wine pairings; minimum 4 people) will showcase a wide array of Chef Nguyen's most beloved dishes.
