If Christmas is your thing but preparing a whole feast is not, you're in luck. London-born Argentinian steakhouse Gaucho needs no introduction, but their new Christmas concept does: from 1 December onwards, indulge your festive appetite with all your favourite holiday foods and cocktails made with an Argentinian twist.
The team at Gaucho have designed a cocktails and mocktails menu that includes concoctions such as the Mince Pie Manhattan, a Jim Beam Double Oak bourbon and sweet vermouth drink with raisins and spices, and the Gingerbread Sour, a Christmas take on the whisky sour that comes with your very own gingerbread friend to nibble on as you enjoy your libation. All cocktails and mocktails are priced at $128 and $88 respectively (excluding service charge).
With festive cocktails whetting your appetite, here comes the feast, featuring all the best Argentinian steak cuts, in true Gaucho fashion. Executive Chef Jamie Robertson has created two different Christmas menus for this year to suit all your mouth-watering needs. The Christmas Sharing menu ($588) and the Christmas Signature menu ($688) both include starters, mains and desserts, the former being a perfect option for an informal dinner with colleagues and friends and the latter displaying a wider variety and allowing diners to customise their festive dining experience with loved ones. Offerings include classics such as empanadas, chorizo sausage and all things beef (bife de ancho, bife de lomo and bife de chorizo) – all served with thin chips, pigs in blankets and red wine and cranberry gravy, to name just a few of the sides – as well as chocolate chip panettone pudding and dulce de leche cheesecake to lift the Christmas spirit.
Time to make those reservations! With any luck, the dressed-up and beautifully sophisticated interiors and superior offerings of Gaucho will settle any seasonal squabbling.
