American pastry chef Jason Licker brings his sublime dessert creations to Lily & Bloom later this month

If you’re hoping to excel in the world of patisserie, it helps to have a surname like Licker. Famous for his Asian-inspired desserts, Jason Licker is the winner of Iron Chef Thailand’s Pastry Edition and has recently released a new cookbook with a catchy title, Lickerland: Asian-Accented Desserts.

From 28 to 30 December 2016, diners at Lily & Bloom will have the opportunity to order Chef Licker’s signature desserts paired with some of L&B’s well-loved cocktails (from $188). Our favourite combo is Licker’s Snickers (passion fruit caramel, nougat mousse, peanuts) matched with a Snickers Old Fashioned (Snickers-infused Michter’s American whisky, vanilla demerara sugar, chocolate and walnut bitters) for $198. For subtler Asian flavours, go for the Asian pear cake (toasted cake, caramelised almonds, roasted soybean ice cream) paired with the Shogun (Hibiki Japanese whisky, plum wine, oloroso sherry, honey and Angostura bitters) for $208.


During the pop-up, a three-course dining menu ($588) has also been created by newly appointed L&B Executive Chef Chris Grare, with the option of adding on a dessert and cocktail pairing for $120. In addition, copies of Chef Licker’s Lickerland cookbook ($500) will be on sale, so you can try your hand at whipping up some of the pastry chef’s marvels at home – or not (just drooling over the pictures is fine by us).
