For this second edition of The Word on Rum, it was the perfect 'island' mid-week getaway

Where do you get a tropical island experience in Hong Kong? At Honi Honi Tiki Cocktail Lounge, of course!

In celebration of International Women’s Day, a bunch of Foodies gathered at Honi Honi for their second edition of The Word on Rum series.

Fresh off the boat was a BYOP (build-your-own-poké) station by Pololi where guests could freely customise their own bowls with a range of toppings and dressings (yay to generous amounts of furikake!).

Guests sampling rum from Ron Zacapa Centenario


After a fill of carbs and protein, it was time to wash it down with some drinks. Brand ambassador of Ron Zacapa Centenario Cherry Lam was there to dish out rum samplings from their range – one of which was a 23-year-old rum that was aged using a solera system from four different barrels and another a 25-year-old XO that was aged in French oak barrels.

Keith Tindall, one of Drinks World’s top 25 bartenders, was also there to give a fun and educational personal tutorial to guests, teaching them how to make their very own signature cocktails for the night.

For the non-alcoholics, ukulele start-up Humanity Brand Co brought upbeat tunes to the event and changed people’s perspectives – hey, everyone CAN play the ukulele (it was THAT simple)! Under personal guidance by the two co-founders, Allison and Christine, guests who had no musical background could jam to simple beats of Iz Kamakawiwo’ole’s "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and Jason Mraz’s "I Am Yours" at the end of the session.  


Happy fills of poké bowls, happy drinks, happy tunes and happy guests – these sum up a lovely evening spent at Honi Honi Tiki Cocktail Lounge.
