Following the recent devastating attacks in and around Barcelona, Alex Fargas, executive chef and partner of La Paloma, has united a group of culinary countrymen to create this Dinner for Barcelona event on Tuesday, 29 August 2017 from 6pm, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going towards a non-profit association in Barcelona. Lending a hand to Chef Fargas will be the likes of chefs Ferran Tadeo from Catalunya, Miguel Zallo from Zafran and Jaime Nuñez of AMMO, along with Edgar Sanuy of La Lola Group in Manila and the Spanish Chefs’ Association in Asia.
Priced at $400/person (+$200 for unlimited wine, beer, sangria, Spanish cava and soft drinks), diners will be treated to an eight-course Catalan-inspired tapas menu plus two desserts. Dishes include traditional Catalan cod fritters, fricandó (Catalan stew made with ox tongue and mushroom) and crema Catalana – the Spanish version of crème brûlée.
Though the recent events in Barcelona were indeed horrific, we can all do something – even thousands of kilometres away in Hong Kong – to show our support for Spain and the nation’s unbreakable spirit. And what better way to do that than by coming together to break bread and enjoy good food and drink.
