Three Buns is a concept that has taken Singapore and Jakarta by storm with their neighbourhood burger joints designed for Southeast Asian palates. Known for their affordable fare and use of high-quality meat in a simple yet innovative way, Hong Kong is about to get a brief taste of their burgers at Potato Head in Sai Ying Pun, with a one-month pop-up stint from 20 September 2017.
Chef Adam Penney has helmed many renowned UK restaurants and was notably behind London’s beloved Patty & Bun, and he now brings his passion and classic techniques to perfecting his Hong Kong–specific flavours. The HK menu includes the Porkerface($105), which includes a hit of XO sauce along with a Dingley Dell pork patty. You’ll aslo find Naughty Fries ($60) on the menu, made with hand-cut potatoes and homemade gochujang Béarnaise sauce with beef chilli, and – on the lighter side – the Pokemon Bowl ($105), a glorious combination of marinated yellowfin tuna akami, ponzu, quinoa, avocado, daikon, jalapeño and spicy mayo.
The Three Buns takeover coincides with a new cocktail menu showcasing tipples like Balinese Lovers Punch ($110), made with rum, brandy, genever, pomelo shrub, clarified milk and island spices, and Tropics Old-Fashioned ($90), a mix of coconut-fat-washed bourbon, roasted pineapple skin in syrup and Archipelago Bitter.
On the launch night of the Three Buns takeover on 20 September, all guests will be gifted with a complimentary cocktail upon entry, with the first 100 peeps also treated to a burger on the house.
