Feeding Hong Kong has just launched its first online food drive on honestbee’s e-commerce platform today, aka World Food Day. The two well-known organisations put forth this social initiative to make food donation as convenient as possible.
What is it?
Feeding HK’s online food drive can be found as a dedicated online shop on honestbee’s existing website and app. You may purchase any products for donation, with honestbee matching the items one for one (for instance, if you purchase one bag of rice, honestbee will donate that bag of rice), then delivering them to the Feeding HK food bank at the end of each month. The food bank distributes to 70 partner charities who support families and individuals in need, reaching more than 26,000 beneficiaries.
Why should we donate?
We all acknowledge that the food crisis in Hong Kong is serious, yet the situation might be even worse than we thought. One in eight people lives below the poverty line and low-income families spend almost half their income on food – your food donations will fill both the Feeding HK food bank and people’s bellies (and hearts), and it only takes a few minutes to do so.
How do we get started?
Simply shop from a selection of nearly 20 staple products – from rice and cooking oil to noodles and tinned veggies – through the dedicated Feeding HK shop on honestbee’s website and app. The products purchased will go directly to the charity. Click here to donate. Also spread the word with your friends to share the goodwill.
While these two companies forge their social missions, it’s time for us to be part of the movement too – what is your move on World Food Day?
