Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018 are set to be revealed at the end of the month at this year’s ceremony at Wynn Palace, Macau, on 27 March. In advance of the results, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants have revealed that this year’s recipient of the The Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award is Taiwan-born chef André Chiang, of Restaurant André in Singapore (which closed its doors in February) and RAW in Taipei.
Chiang says, “While I was thrilled to be the first Chinese chef to appear on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, I am equally honoured to be the first Chinese chef to receive this prestigious award. My focus has always been to put Asia on the culinary world map, and this recognition reinforces that goal. I will remember this moment forever.”
Previous winners of the award include Hong Kong’s own Umberto Bombana of 8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana last year and David Thompson of Bangkok’s Nahm in 2016.
