Head to a mall near you this weekend to make delicious use of surplus food and help the needy

Real-estate investment trust Link REIT is bringing “food wise” culture to Hong Kong by making soup with surplus ingredients at their Souper Kitchen pop-ups on three weekends from 12–27 May 2018 in order to raise awareness about the concerning issue of food waste.

Celebrity chef Jason Wang will be preparing four gourmet soups: bisque of napa cabbage and bottle gourd with shiitake mushroom, spinach, tofu and egg-drop soup, potage of roasted pumpkin and carrot with papaya and tomato, cucumber and ginger soup. The general public will be given a soup coupon when donating HK$10 or above.

Souper Kitchen

Hong Kong loves its food, but it’s undeniable that surplus food is a growing concern in the city, with more than 3,300 tonnes of food sent to landfills every day. Souper Kitchen will be donating all proceeds to Food Angel to help Hong Kongers in need.

Souper Kitchen will be at Temple Mall North in Wong Tai Sin this coming weekend. Celebrities such as Steve Lee, Mandy Lam and Jimmy Au will also be attending the upcoming events.

Saturday and Sunday, 19–20 May 2018, 1–9pm: Temple Mall North, 16 Lung Cheung Road, Wong Tai Sin

Saturday, 26 May 2018, 1–9pm: Lei Yue Mun Plaza, 80 Lei Yue Mun Road, Yau Tong, Kwun Tong

Sunday, 27 May 2018, 11am–7pm: Butterfly Market, 1 Wu Chui Road, Tuen Mun
