Those of us who’ve been to the Cup Noodles Museum in Osaka or Yokohama know what a kitchsy day out it is. If you haven’t had the pleasure, you’ll soon be able to experience the same instant-noodle fun now that the 10,000-square-foot museum is officially open at China Hong Kong City in Tsim Sha Tsui!

CUPNOODLES MUSUEM Hong Kong by Nissin Foods

The brainchild of Japanese instant-noodle powerhouse Nissin Foods, the HK museum features two of the most popular DIY experiences from Japan, My Cup Noodle Factory and Demae Iccho Factory, where you can design your very own noodles, from soup base, to toppings, to packaging.

In the Demae Iccho experience, you’ll even get to make your own noodle dough from scratch. Demae Iccho is a Nissin instant-noodle brand produced specifically for Hong Kong, with a market share of approximately 60% in the 852, according to the noodle giant. We’re fans of the classic sesame flavour, but the tonkotsu series is also a winner, in particular the black garlic oil variety.

In honour of the 111th birthday of Nissin Foods’ founder (and instant noodles inventor), Momofuku Ando, the HK museum will also launch three new attractions and a trio of hands-on workshops. So far, we’ve only heard details about two of the newcomers (the rest are hush-hush)‚ but they’re good ‘uns. First up, My Granola Factory is all about Nissin’s new granola products (we love their matcha granola!). Then there’s an experience dubbed The Big Cup, which mysteriously focuses on the “reverse thinking“ concept.

Mass production of Cup Noodles was only made possible when Mr Momofuku Ando applied reverse thinking into production. – Nissin Foods
