BREAKING NEWS: Jamie’s Italian Says Goodbye to Hong Kong

Pukka British chef Jamie Oliver’s laid-back Italian chain Jamie’s Italian first hit Hong Kong with a bang back in 2014 with a restaurant in Causeway Bay that saw queues down the block for several months after opening, expanding to TST the following year.

Last year, as Jamie’s Italians in the UK were closing under the pressures of Brexit, the Hong Kong franchise issued a strong message stating that they were staying open. Nine months later – and the double whammy of ongoing protests coupled with COVID-19 has now bestowed a similar fate on the 852 branches.

Known for its excellently priced happy hour, there will be many sad to see the chain go. But like the chef himself said this week on Facebook, “All good things must end.”

All Jamie’s Italian branches both here and in Taiwan have shut shop from 28 February.
