Do you like the idea of branching out of your regular restaurant choices, but you're afraid of committing a full meal to a place you haven't been to before (and worried that it could possibly disappoint)? Chope's just got the thing for you hesitant ones.
Taking place on Wednesday, 7 December from 6–11pm, for one night only, Chope's Foot on Foot tour is your chance to sample the delectable offerings of 14 restaurants in Central, all of which we have tried and tasted in the past and can highly recommend. Ticket holders will gain free access to one dish and/or signature cocktails/beers at each restaurant and the opportunity to trawl your way through Central at your own leisure to hit up participating outlets, which include Gaucho, Jinjuu, Ciao Chow, Porterhouse by Laris, Café Siam, Havana, AMAZAKE, Azure, Common Room, Bungalow, Tipping Point, Check-In Taipei, The Diner and Soi 7. Could you ask for a more star-studded line-up?
Plus, Chope is hosting a kick-off party at Bungalow on the same evening to send you off on your merry ways with signature cocktails, bites and goodies from Selvedge Grooming and Yeechoo to take with you on your respective journeys. As the sponsor for the tour, Selvedge Grooming will be setting up a grooming station where men can get free shaving and styling services on the day of the event. We can tell you that this is a dining (and styling!) deal not to be missed, and we recommend you arrive early to take full advantage of the signature offerings at as many restaurants as possible.
Foodie was privy to a preview of the tour, which included stops at Azure, Porterhouse by Laris and Ciao Chow, and here's a sneak peek of what you can expect on the day:
Adam (a mini burger and craft beer combo) from Azure
Dirty martini from Porterhouse by Laris
Chicken liver parfait with raspberry and balsamic jelly from Porterhouse by Laris
Pizza carbonara from Ciao Chow
Pizza margherita from Ciao Chow
We sampled Azure's signature Adam, a duo of mini burgers atop a dark craft beer, Porterhouse by Laris' dirty martini and chicken liver parfait and a draught beer of our own choice and a slice each of Ciao Chow's pizza carbonara and pizza margherita, which you can decide between on the day of the tour. This is but a fraction of all the offerings to be had on 7 December. Some others include:
Spicy tuna roll, baby squid yakitori or fried chicken from AMAZAKE
Brazilian pork poppers from Tipping Point
Tacos from Soi 7
Steak and baguette from Bungalow
Tickets are available through the Chope platform, priced at $350 (until 30 November), $450 (until 6 December) and $500 on the day, which you can buy from Bungalow from 6pm onwards if you've snoozed on the affordable early-bird tickets.
