Restaurant Week by DiningCity is back again this year lasting 10 days from 31 July to 9 August. Specially designed tasting menus have been created for guests to try in over 80 popular restaurants in Hong Kong. The fixed-price menus have been divided into either Category A or B:
Category A: Lunch HK$ 198 / Dinner HK$ 398
Category B: Lunch HK$ 118 / Dinner HK$ 298
Located on the fourth floor of Harbour City and one of the participating outlets of Restaurant Week, La Locanda is an authentic Italian restaurant offering a variety of traditional dishes with modern twists yet retaining the flavours of Italian cuisine. La Locanda falls in Category B, offering a lunch buffet for HK$118 and a three-course dinner menu at HK$298.
The atmosphere at La Locanda is relaxing and comfortable, making all guests feel very much at home. The open kitchen and outdoor terrace space also plays a part in making a meal here a welcoming dining experience.
The daily changing chef's buffet includes a selection of soup, salads, ham, roasted vegetables and a range of desserts from fresh fruits to tiramisu and crème brûlée.
While all the food items generally up to par and satisfying, the desserts section was indeed the highlight of the buffet. The crème brûlée, a rich, silky smooth custard topped with caramlised sugar, was my favourite out of the selection. I would not mind eating this all day, everyday, though I'd prefer a more solid sugar top as it was slightly runny when we had it. The desserts are served in small ceramic dishes, which was a nice touch as it prevents diners from making a mess scooping it out from a large serving plate.
