We've long lamented the fact that there are not any Nando's in Hong Kong. Yes they are all about the fast food, which granted is not normally our jam, but given how well they execute the convenient, tasty, chicken we are most willing to give them a head nod. Flaming Frango is set to meet that need, with succulent, flame grilled piri-piri chicken in Hong Kong.
Flaming Frango fans are presented with a range signature house special piri-piri chicken portions to choose from; 1⁄4 chicken, leg & thigh (HK$88+10%), 1⁄4 chicken, breast & wing (HK$98+10%), 1⁄2 Chicken (HK$148+10%) and full chicken (HK$260+10%) is also available, with options to add sides to accompany the star dish.
Other original signatures include the Fiery Chicken Burger (HK$108+10%), which is made from juicy piri-piri chicken breast as well as the interesting addition of Piri-Piri chicken jam (HK$78+10%), a take on French rillettes, effectively a delightful spread that comes with crusty bread, unique to the establishment.
On the ‘Not Chicken’ menu there is a vegetarian option, the Portobello Burger (HK$148+10%), which is a grilled halloumi cheese & Portobello mushroom burger served with shoestring fries seasoned with chilli and salt, another Flaming Frango specialty side dish (priced at $48+10% on its own), that comes with a delicious Piri-Oli sauce, a piri-piri take on the traditional aioli. Another vibrant dish is the Mediterranean salad (HK$108+10%), made from assorted young leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, orange, Halloumi cheese, red peppers and olives.
Complementing the food, drinks include signatures, Black Pepper Raspberry Martini and Piri-Piri Chocolate Martini (both at HK$85+10%), as well as the Spicy Gin Mary (HK$78+10%) a fiery twist on the classic.
