Summer’s almost over, but the consistent heat in Hong Kong calls for something to help cool off with. Cue I See I See Handcrafted Icy Desserts, a shop that opened on Leighton Road this summer.
I See I See is a cosy shop tucked behind Lee Gardens. With wooden furniture and a menu designed to look like popsicle sticks, the shop is as hipster as it gets; there’s even a cute quote on the side of the shop in swirly writing.
Served with wooden sticks and in cups, I See I See boasts an ever-changing menu of ice pops, with refreshing and interesting flavours.
We give the earl grey pistachio ice pop a try. At $42 HKD, it’s slightly on the pricey side but worth it for the decent size; perfect as an afternoon snack. The ice pop offers a smooth, creamy texture that melts in your mouth like ice cream. The earl grey flavour is pleasant and pairs well with the texture of the pistachios, though we wish the pistachios were crunchier and that the ice pop was more interesting flavour-wise.
The virgin mojito ice pop also piques our interest. Refreshing and unique, the flavours mingle in your mouth and result in something that’s exciting and fun. Its lime and mint flavours make this ice pop the star of the show, and in addition to the mint leaves on the sides, there is also a thin strip of melon on the side of the pop, which offers some texture and is a sweet and subtle addition. Though this ice pop is the one to try, the helpful staff also recommended the creamy mango and the strawberry hokkaido milk flavours.
Summer isn’t over just yet, so next time you’re in Causeway Bay, swing by this shop for an icy dessert. You won’t be disappointed.
