Aberdeen Street Social welcomes London chef Lee Westcott of Typing Room

For those of you who love Aberdeen Street Social and Jason Atherton's fine cuisine, you'll be excited to hear that the restaurant will be hosting a special one-night pop-up dinner this Thursday, 22 September with acclaimed British chef Lee Westcott of London’s renowned Typing Room.

Young, creative and well travelled, Westcott represents a new breed of British chefs. After earning the trust of London chef and restaurateur Tom Aikens over four years (two of which were spent leading the kitchen at Restaurant Tom Aikens), Westcott was asked by Jason Atherton to oversee two of his restaurants in Hong Kong: 22 Ships and Ham & Sherry. He returned home to London in 2014 to realise his dream of opening and managing his own restaurant, Typing Room, in the East End's hip Town Hall Hotel. One of Foodie's most esteemed food critics, the searing Marina O'Loughlin of the Guardian, called Chef Westcott's dishes 'bloody marvellous' – restaurant praise doesn't get much loftier than that.


Chef Westcott’s specially designed menu for the evening will delight diners in Hong Kong with some of his best dishes. Co-created with Aberdeen Street Social Executive Chef Chris Whitmore, the journey will begin with snacks including crispy cod skin with smoked cod roe and onion ash and Wagyu tartare with shallot and smoked onion cream. These will be followed by cold starters from Chef Westcott, including heritage tomatoes with ricotta, chamomile and cherries, kamachi with kohlarabi, fermented tomato and sorrel and yeasted cauliflower with capers, raisins and mint.

Diners can look forward to Chef Whitmore's delicious roasted duck breast with confit leg, pickled squash and orange granola to follow. Ending the meal on a sweet note, the menu features a dessert created by Chef Westcott: yoghurt, apple and dill.

And for those of you who love a great wine pairing with your meal, Aberdeen Street Social’s talented sommelier, Artur Aronov, has matched each delicious course with a European wine. Pairings include a sparkling NV Crémant de Bourgogne, Brut, Francois Mikulski NV, Burgundy, France; a 2011 'Ca di Pian' Barbera d’Asti, La Spinetta, Piedmont, Italy, and a Bodegas Ximenez Spinola, Andalucia, Spain.

The six-course dinner menu is priced at $800 per person for food only and $1,400 with paired wines.
