You’re never too short of a staycation in Hong Kong, especially when our summers boast some of the most beautiful weather. When the hustle and bustle of this concrete jungle starts to drag you down, Lantau can certainly recharge your batteries. Whether you're looking for hiking trails, beaches, cultural sites or MOST importantly great food, this island can provide the perfect escape.
SOLERA - DISCOVERY BAY
A spanish tapas bar and restaurant, situated in the expat community of Discovery Bay, on the east coast of Lantau island.
Start with the watermelon sangria with vodka-infused watermelon chunks and mint to accompany lunch. These beauties are delicious yet incredibly strong, so I wouldn’t advise ordering one if you’re looking to be somewhat switched on for the remainder of the day! Follow with the chilli and garlic prawns which are cooked to perfection.
There are a number of dishes worthy of a mention including the Patatas Bravas and roasted asparagus with garlic and rosemary.
And for the meat eaters, there is the sizzling chorizo, slow cooked pork belly and tender beef cheek.
MAVERICKS - PUI O BEACH
This Hawaiian-styled restaurant and bar is the perfect spot for beachgoers. Bob Marley drifting through the speakers whilst you relax on seats made out of old skateboards makes this place just reek of summer! They're famous for their shack-styled menu so you can expect a variety of burgers, fish and chips and my personal favourite, the Stackcho's.
Whilst you wait - Manchego cheese with olives and croutons
THE CHINA BEACH CLUB - MUI WO
Located at the end of Silvermine Bay, The China Beach Club has been around for over 20 years and overlooks Silvermine Beach. This quaint, old Hong Kong beach townhouse serves some of the best homemade, hearty-styled food I’ve had in Hong Kong. Oh, I forgot to mention, the Chilli Cheese Garlic Bread will change your life!
