If you haven’t had the chance to visit Mexico City yet, Xaman will give you all the more reason to go book that flight.
Beginning their careers in 2005 as bartenders at the original Buddha Bar Paris, by 2011 Anthony Zamora and Romain Morice became Le Baron Group Paris’ head of bars. From there, Xaman was born.
Located on a dark alleyway in a once affluent area, which fell into disrepair, discovering Xaman bar is like a journey into the unexpected. Celebrating the cultural heritage of the pre-Hispanic world and the aesthetics of Shamanism, co-founders Anthony and Romain have created a new cocktail experience that honours the power of plants and respect for nature.
Apothecary jars containing mysterious infused liqueurs and mixtures adorn the walls behind the dark marble bar, where complex elevated cocktails are created using dynamic Mexican ingredients such as hoja santa (sacred leaf) and xoconostle – a sour cactus fruit used in traditional medicine. The creations are then enhanced even more with touches like dried grasshopper salt and served in glasses carved from gourds.
What’s even more exciting is you no longer need to take that trip to Mexico City to see Anthony and Romain in action.
Hidden down its own dark alleyway in Hong Kong, Brickhouse will be hosting, for one night only, Mexico City’s finest – Xaman Bar. On Thursday 24th March, Anthony and Romain will be serving up a specially created menu of some of their most innovative cocktails, straight from the streets of Mexico City to Hong Kong’s Mexico City haunt.
It almost seems that Brickhouse and Xaman were made for a partnership….
