Jamie Oliver is in town! After a recent visit to the celebrity chef’s restaurant, Bread Street Kitchen, I have decided to try out another one but with an Italian twist. Jamie’s Italian. As the name implies, it offers Italian cuisine that is exceptionally affordable and comfortable. The restaurant is very artsy with a hipster atmosphere at the bar. Instead of their great quality antipasti such as bruschetta and cured meat, or homemade pasta and pizza, we came to have some sweet treats. The brownie is indeed fudgy, dense, and yet retains slight cakery. It has been perfectly complimented with a scoop of gelato, which could have pronounced more of its caramel flavor, and addicting caramelized popcorn. This is a really, really epic brownie!
I would highly recommend to try the lemon pie with beautiful dollops of toasted meringue. An ordinary shortcrust pastry, with a citrusy limoncello curd filling plus stunning layer of burnt egg white meringue. Not to mention the candied lemons and crunchy pistachio brittles on the side, the pie is just a scrumptious one. This place is certainly worth visiting!
