In the heat of summer, ice cream is the top item on my survival guide list, soft serve ice cream in particular. Luckily, we have found a new participant in this HK ice cream industry located in Kennedy Town, the Ice Monkey. So what is it about this naughty monkey that's got everyone going crazy right now?
Ice Monkey offers premium glacio ice cream and sorbet at their counter, as well as various soft serves of the day available in either waffle cones or cups and you can add toppings too. After sampling the glacio and the sorbet, as well as their flavour of the month, I decided to go for a monkey twist with lumpfish caviar.
The original soft serve is made with Belgian milk and tastes extremely light and comforting, although it tends to melt easier in comparison with the other options offered.
Whilst the Italian dark chocolate is intensively rich in cocoa butter, it is also smoother and more solidified than other ice creams I've had.
The two flavours have been entwined together with an interesting addition of lumpfish caviar on the side, which has the conceptual similarity of salted caramel, adding a slight saltiness to the dessert.
I absolutely adore this combination and will be sure to visit the monkey family when hanging out around Kennedy Town in the future!
