Dolly is an all day dim sum teahouse, located on Avenue K, opposite of the twin towers. They specialise in traditional dim sum cooking, but interpret it in their own modern way to provide a very original experience. With bamboo baskets hanging around, colourful drawings on the walls and an environment full of beautiful ornate glass, Dolly Dim Sum provides an artistic ambience to enjoy exquisitely made dim sum.
To start, a very ordinary looking yam puff is filled with mashed taro and sliced veggies. It's then deep-fried and constructed rather unusually with wasabi dressed shrimp, which takes the deliciousness of the yam puff to a whole new level!
My favourite is definitely their signature salted fish bun. It's seared with a golden brown bottom and stuffed with fish paste and cilantro leaves.
The barbecue pork puff resembles others I've had before but is instead made with chicken and a sweetly glazed thin pastry making it different but so good.
The plate of Thai-style fried rice tastes sweet and a little sour and is perfectly sticky as well.
We end with a refreshing cup of pomegranate infused mocktail, the bright red jasmine tea.
For a budget friendly brunch, Dolly is always a excellent choice.
