Located next to the House of Magic at Studio City Macau, Shanghai Magic is the new restaurant combining immersive magic with premium Shanghainese cuisine. While the interior is filled with features from the world of illusion, servers provide surprises and tricks while wearing their hearts upon the sleeves.
After ordering our food, we were presented with the gastronomic delight of watermelon juice with pop rocks as a complimentary amuse bouche.
Next we were presented with the Shanghainese smoked cod.

One of their signatures is the minced duck, served with crunchy diced veggies stuffed with crispy sesame pockets. The bed of egg white is silky and smooth and unusually garnished with three generous servings of sea urchin and some crab meat.

A stir-fried egg white with conpoy also catches a lot of diners’ eyes around the table. It is composed of a tasteful mixture of fish maw, bean sprouts, crab meat and scrambled eggs that are surrounded by a slightly burnt souffle mountain.

For a sweet finish, their version of mango sago pudding is served in an aesthetically pleasing manner, garnished with freeze-dried raspberries, cookie crumbs and a scoop of spectacular coconut sugar gelato.

Some petit fours included the house made milk tea and kiwi sorbet which were given in addition to a block of mini treats. We were extremely impressed by the durian macaron and semi-sweet chocolate cake.
