After the successful openings of Brickhouse, Blue Butcher, Fish & Meat and Mott 32, Maximal Concepts brought us a new prime dining restaurant along with a brand new beachside concept - Limewood. Located at the beach area of Repulse Bay, it is also where the latest popular mall, The Pulse, opened about a year ago.
Inspired by Southeast Asian, Hawaiian, South American and Caribbean cuisines, the menu is all about fresh seafood that features top-notch ingredients and barbecue flavours.
We began with a seafood platter that included signature Limewood oysters, salmon and yellowtail tartare and barbecued shrimp. The oyster was excellently fresh and sweet, complimented perfectly with a raw quail egg, ponzu and a really noticeable calamansi juice.

I really appreciated the way they used coconut water to marinate the chunky salmon tartare as well as the fried garlic bites which added a crunchy texture. The tuna tartare was deliciously created by yuzu aioli in layers of fatty tuna chunks and avocado mash at the bottom.
Coconut water, kaffir lime, ginger
Avocado, sea urchin, ikura, tortilla chips
Limewood's guacamole is topped with unusual garnishes such as crispy pork skin, sea urchin and salmon roe, which pairs perfectly with the corn tortilla chips and makes these nibbles impossibly hard to resist. The Watermelon salad is the best choice for vegetarians because it is refreshing, sweet, and has a tropical touch of Thai basil and crushed peanuts.

Thai basil, toasted peanuts, mints, cherry tomato, radish
The Huli Huli Chicken is the must-have item on the new menu and is one of the table's favourites while the sea urchin tostada is also a beautiful highlight that satisfied both our cameras and tummies. We also tried their crab salad and glazed thick bacon.
Flour tortillas, sour cream, guacamole, fresh herbs
Coconut cream, fried avocado, ikura, heirloom salsa
Finally, my favourite goes to the housemade kid's size churros, with salted caramel and homemade coconut ice cream. It is just heaven on earth!

Limewood and its bar are definitely highly recommended if you're looking for a place to enjoy a sun-filled weekend with cocktails and quick bites!
