Café Review: Bread & Bistro

After the launch of the South Island MTR line, Wong Chuk Hang is rapidly becoming not only an industrial area but a district with many awesome restaurants and cafés – including Bread & Bistro.

B&B was first started as a Japanese bakery café. Located on the ground floor level of One Island South, it offers freshly baked breads, simple breakfasts and lunches, drinks and coffees in a comfortable and intimate environment.

My friend and I came for a late lunch where we started off with an avocado crab salad. It was amazing; we loved the homemade balsamic glaze, the creamy avocado mash, the sweet crabmeat and the fresh mixed greens. There were also pieces of hash brown stuffed with melted cheese scattered about.

We followed with an indulgent portion of thin-cut fries topped with bolognese sauce and melted cheese – we couldn’t stop digging in since it was so darn good!Image titleImage title

I also loved the truffle pasta, which had a generous amount of truffle paste and butter-sauteed mushrooms, and the superb, creamy crabmeat carbonara. Both dishes were made with perfectly al dente pasta.Image titleImage titleImage title

Under the same group, Mr B Concepts, Bread & Bistro offers 2/3 Dolci’s coffees and smoothies made with their finest Italian gelato. Luckily, we were able to try their latest purple sweet potato and sea salt gelato flavours. My favourite was that beautiful purple scoop with bits of sweet potato. Image titleImage title

Verdict

If you work nearby Wong Chuk Hang or just want a quiet and relaxing place to chill, Bread & Bistro is for you.
