The Butterfly Room at Rosewood Hong Kong stands tall on our list, having been crowned the Foodie Forks Best Afternoon Tea and even the World’s Best Afternoon Tea by LaListe for its glam ambience and expertly crafted bites by executive pastry chef Jonathan Soukdeo. The menu reads like a fine-dining affair, offering amuse-bouche, fancy finger sandwiches, a decadent pre-dessert of caviar French toast, an exquisite plated dessert of apple tatin, and chocolate petits fours. On the rooftop of Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers, Sky Lounge presents a fine beauty-branded afternoon tea to tempt diners. Here, the autumn partnership is with Greek natural skincare brand APIVITA, and the vibrant deep red and purple bites take their cues from the flavours of the Mediterranean on the savoury side and grape and honey on the sweet. For instance, there’s the Merlot grape jelly and honey cream cake for the sweet-toothed, whilst the smoked salmon pita with tzatziki and eggplant dip crouton are salty contenders.
The APIVITA Autumn Collagen Glow Afternoon Tea has a price tag of HKD338 for one and HKD676 for two. Each diner will be gifted with an APIVITA Beevine Elixir gift set and store invitation to receive a complimentary skin-analysis session, limited-edition travel set, and HKD50 cash voucher.

It’s also hairy crab season, and it’s this Chinese delicacy that’s put on a pedestal in the rooftop restaurant’s afternoon tea set, with highlights of steamed hairy crab with Zhenjiang vinegar and ginger, hairy crab xiao long bao with crab roe, and steamed egg white and young coconut with hairy crab roe and caviar. Also included are a welcome glass of Prosecco, all-you-can-eat black sesame egg waffles and seasonal ice cream, and additional autumn- and Chinese-inspired sweet treats like the huadiao caramel pineapple mousse cake and mandarin and candied ginger tart.

4. Hotel ICON (GREEN)

At Hotel ICON this autumn, GREEN’s new chef de cuisine Don Wong is strutting his stuff with an afternoon tea celebrating matcha from three of Japan’s most renowned tea-producing regions, Uji, Shizuoka, and Kagoshima, as well as more flavours associated with the Land of the Rising Sun. The three-course set, a GREEN signature, begins with three savoury starters, before moving on to main course selections that incorporate Japanese tea – perhaps the hojicha-braised beef short rib or chilled prawn soba with Uji Yabukita matcha tofu dressing. The six sweet bites star matcha and other Japanese teas, such as the Kagoshima Yutakamidori matcha yuzu madeleine and Shizuoka Okumidori matcha mochi cake roll. However, for us, the winner of this tea-tastic afternoon tea has got to be the unlimited serves of house-made Uji matcha and hojicha soft serve on offer.
The Japanese Matcha Essence Afternoon Tea is priced at HK388 for one and HKD698 for two on weekdays and HKD448 for one and HKD788 for two on weekends and public holidays (inclusive of a glass of sparkling wine per guest).

The St. Regis’ seasonal afternoon tea adventure at The Drawing Room sees luxury Korean skincare brand Sulwhasoo’s hero ingredient of ginseng steal the show. As always at The Drawing Room, guests are tasked with curating their own bespoke teatime experience by selecting their choice of sweet and savoury bites from the eatery’s tableside trolley (going all savoury is an option that we fully endorse). Savoury morsels like the samgyetang ginseng chicken soup and poached lobster tail with ginseng syrup take a Korean approach, whilst the ginseng-laced sweets pay tribute to Sulwhasoo’s artistry. The crown jewel of the dessert selection is Moon Jar, a masterful soursop mousse and cherry compote creation inspired by the moon jar that houses Sulwhasoo’s The Ultimate S collection.
The Ultimate Moonlit Afternoon Tea is priced at HKD478 for one and HKD888 for two. Guests who book this teatime experience will receive a complimentary Sulwhasoo The Ultimate S three-item discovery kit (valued at HKD1,097).
