Exceptional lunch and dinner Valentine’s Day dining experiences are on offer at Chef Richard Ekkebus’ two-Michelin-starred gastronomic powerhouse. Bo Innovation

Three-Michelin-starred chef Alvin Leung has pushed the innuendoes to the limit with his The World of Suzy Wong 15-course (yes, you read that right) X-treme Chinese tasting menu. It begins with caviar with smoked toro and tomato and culminates with Sex on the Beach, the chef’s infamous edible condom (not for the squeamish, mind you). In between there are courses entitled Tongue & Oyster, Baby Food, Sweet Bed, Kiss, Wake the Rooster and Kitty & Dicky. It may be gimmicky, but we’re intrigued. The price tag for this cheeky feast is $2,680 per person. Additional $1,880 per person for wine pairings.

Chef Nicolas Boutin has crafted a sensational St Valentin menu at this one-Michelin-starred restaurant focusing on seasonal French ingredients. Available on 13 and 14 February, the five- and six-course menus are priced at $1,314 and $1,688 per person respectively. In particular, the dessert, Un peu, beaucoup, passionnément, a la folie, is a showstopper. Inspired by the game of ‘He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not’, the chef has used dark chocolate, pomelo, jasmine and apple to create a realistic-looking chrysanthemum that can be savoured petal by petal.

For nearly 50 years, this old-fashioned fine dining European spot has been one of the most romantic restaurants in town, and Chef Marco Mehr has pulled out all the stops with his six-course Valentine’s Day dinner menu ($1,388 per person with a complimentary glass of champagne). Highlights include Gillardeau oysters with Oscietra caviar, foie gras terrine, truffle-scented sweetcorn soup, grilled US beef tenderloin and rose petal parfait with Valrhona chocolate cremeux, made with edible flowers.

ON Dining Kitchen & Lounge

This one is likely already booked up, but we had to include it for the sheer decadence. Just one lucky couple will have the chance to be served up a sumptuous tasting menu by Michelin-starred chef Philippe Orrico himself at the Top Table: a rooftop setting with some of the best views in town. The price tag for this once-in-a-lifetime experience? An eye-watering $3,888. If your wallet isn’t quite so deep, you can check out the prix-fixe menus in the restaurant (from $788 a head) or the more casual lounge menu at $488 per diner.

Seafood Room

This restaurant-with-a-view’s V-Day offerings straddle two price categories. At the top of the scale at $1,288 per person from 8:30pm is the five-course seafood-heavy menu, to include a glass of Prosecco or champagne, a red rose and a photo memento (a vegetarian menu is also available). Arrive before 7:15pm, though, and you and your loved one can dig into a three-course set menu, along with the aforementioned bells and whistles, for just $588 per person. If you book on or before 10 February, a glass of complimentary champagne is yours for the taking. Two special love-is-in-the-air cocktails ($148 each), the Cupido and Wild Love, will be available for sipping from 11–14 February. And if you’re single and ready to mingle, head to the rooftop from 9pm on the 14th for a singles’ party with live music (minimum spend of $150 per person).

Seasons by Olivier E.

Périgord black truffles are the shining stars of acclaimed French chef Olivier Elzer’s Black Diamonds Valentine’s Day menus. Barring the dessert, each of the V-Day dishes on the multi-course menus ($2,688/couple for four courses; $3,688/couple for six courses) is lavished with the heavenly aroma and flavour of black truffle, with premium ingredients including Balik salmon, caviar, langoustine and Camembert. You’ll leave your meal all truffled up along with a box of handmade pink macarons for some midnight snacking later on.

Wagyu Takumi

We hope it’s not too late to book a spot at this 13-seat Michelin-starred French-Japanese fusion eatery. On 14 February, Chef Daisuke Mori will treat guests to a mouth-watering eight-course menu ($2,680 per person; add $980–1,280 per person for wine pairings). The most luxurious ingredients from Paris and Tokyo make an appearance, including hairy crab, oysters, abalone, blue lobster, pigeon, snapper and Wagyu tenderloin.

This perennially popular modern Japanese restaurant’s collaboration with luxury British perfume house Penhaligon’s will launch on Valentine’s Day, and we can’t think of a more fitting partnership for the day of love. Mixologist extraordinaire Arkadiusz Rybak has crafted four new cocktails that mirror Penhaligon’s brand-new fragrance family, Portraits, which plays homage to four mysterious fictional characters. These cocktails will be available from 14 February–1 March, priced at $110 each, with guests receiving a fragrance sample with each tipple. Limited-edition fragranced Penhaligon’s Portrait handkerchiefs, fragrance samples and a complimentary Duchess Rose cocktail will be gifted to Zuma’s dinner guests on Valentine’s Day to commence the nine-course Zuma Valentine’s menu created by Chef Samuel Wilkes ($2,500 per couple). The pinnacle of the menu will be Executive Pastry Chef Eddy Lee’s chocolate masterpiece, Emotions of Chocolate (also available à la carte for $188).

It’s Spanish with a twist with Chef Ferran Tadeo’s multi-course Valentine’s Day menu ($788 per person; available 12–14 February). We love the sound of oysters with champagne, cod with truffle and asparagus, Hokkaido scallop rice and rose sorbet with red berries. Pair these dishes with Krug champagne, with special prices from $390 per glass. With each bottle of Krug purchased, diners will be gifted with a half-dozen French oysters. Specially created couples cocktails ($120 each) can also be sipped together.

It doesn’t get much more romantic than CÉ LA VI’s open-air roof deck with its stunning views, but the Valentine’s Day menu at this modern Asian restaurant offers some stiff competition to the skyline spectacle. Available from 10–14 February at $1,288 for two, $1,788 for three (three’s a crowd? Never!) and $2,288 for four, the five-course set menu puts the focus on aphrodisiacs, with highlights including uni nigiri, Kumamoto oysters, Japanese red snapper and cherry-flavoured baba decorated with edible rose petals. Additional $488/person for NV Veuve Clicquot Rosé champagne pairing.

For a stylish Cantonese Valentine’s Day celebration, head to Duddell’s. Priced at $1,380 for two, to include two glasses of Ruinart rosé champagne, couples can share an assortment of Chinese delicacies including roasted duck broth with conpoy and black truffle, fried king prawns with water chestnut and mushroom dumplings in pumpkin soup. Also launching on 14 February – on Mondays–Fridays, for one month only – will be Duddell’s afternoon tea collaboration with British luxury jewellery brand Monica Vinader. The tea set is priced at $900 per person and includes an array of delectable Cantonese small bites, a selection of Fook Ming Tong premium Chinese teas and – the crowing glory – a coral Fiji friendship bracelet, symbolising good fortune ($1,400 retail value). Chef Jaako Sorsa’s floral-inspired six-course Valentine’s Day menu ($788 per person, to include a welcome glass of sparkling red wine Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro) sounds blooming marvellous. The chef has innovatively paired edible flowers harvested from a small farm in his native Finland with luxury Nordic ingredients including oyster flowers, turbot, white asparagus and Finnish pike perch.

You’re in for one epic date night with this hidden speakeasy’s Valentine’s Day extravaganza. At 7pm, head to the Orient Express Cabin for a screening of one of the most romantic films of all time, When Harry Met Sally, along with gourmet movie snacks and themed cocktails. Then at 9pm, head over to the main Hangar room where the VoSSa duo will be serenading couples with their smooth love songs. Though it may sound a tad sexist, this Argentine steakhouse’s Señor and Señorita Valentine’s Day menus ($1,200 per couple; 5–11pm on 14 February) certainly attracted our attention. Each four-course menu is tailored with either a masculine or feminine touch – for the mains, for instance, men get to indulge in a bacon-wrapped rib-eye while the ladies dig into pink seafood risotto. Dessert is a double serving of the Oreo, peanut butter and dulce de leche confection known as the chocotorta. Additional $498 per couple for Argentine wine pairings. A live illustrator will be on hand that evening drawing portraits to take home.

Hoshino Japanese Barbecue

This newly unveiled rooftop Japanese BBQ restaurant at Greater China Club is a fun V-Day option. Modelled after Fukuoka-style yatai open-air food stalls that showcase grilled foods and other local specialities, Hoshino’s menu is priced at $1,380 for two and includes multi courses of starters and salads, a grilled selection of either cuts of Wagyu beef or premium seafood, as well as veggies, eel rice, miso soup and dessert.

Le Bistro Winebeast

This spacious yet cosy bistro is offering a five-course Valentine’s Day menu that’s a marriage of traditional French flavours with a modern twist. Available on 11, 13 and 14 February at $688 per person, recommended dishes include Fines de Claire oysters, duck confit croquettes, confit sole, roasted pineapple and financier cake. For only $200 extra, you can enjoy five wine pairings chosen by Winebeast’s impeccable staff.

We’ve been big fans of Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s casually sophisticated Italian restaurant since its opening, most notably for the affordable pricing. Chef Anthony Burd’s seven-course Valentine’s Day menu, available from 11–14 February, is a steal at $788 a head (the lobster and sea urchin risotto and US beef tenderloin with red wine truffle sauce are screaming our name). If you can sneak out of the office a bit early on the 14th, don’t miss the five-course early-bird menu, which can be ordered from 6–7pm at $588 a head.

The Ocean

Beachfront dining is normally a harbinger of romance, so The Ocean’s multi-course tasting menu ($988 per person, including a glass of GH Mumm Cordon Rouge champagne) should perfectly set the scene. There’s smoked hamachi with roasted baby beets, spicy lobster bisque and salmon en croute amongst other sea-focused delicacies, with sweet treats including rose champagne granita with grapefruit foam and pepper-marinated strawberries with white chocolate foam.

This glam Italian newcomer, opened by Michelin-starred chef Enrico Bartolini, may just have the most romantic seating in town: two curtained dining booths for dining à deux hidden along the entrance to the main dining area. But no matter where you are seated on Valentine’s Day, you’ll be sampling a sumptuous four-course meal ($1,388 per couple; additional Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin rosé pairing by the glass or bottle for $148/$728 respectively). Beef tartare, handmade ravioli with ricotta, broccoli and cuttlefish and veal cheek with pumpkin and horseradish are some of the highlights.

TRi’s exotically glamorous decor oozes romance on any night of the year (we adore those dining pods), but the restaurant’s five-course Balinese Valentine’s Day menu takes it to another level. Priced at $880 per diner to include a glass of GH Mumm Cordon Rouge champagne, the menu is filled with heady spices and is ideal for sharing. We’re particularly enticed by the pan-roasted pigeon and the charcoal-grilled wild red snapper.

For a less traditional option on the 14th, check out this popular Wong Chuk Hang café cum restaurant’s very first Valentine’s Day menu. They’ll be serving up four courses of deliciousness in their brand-spanking-new rooftop nursery garden, with each course offering a tempting vegetarian option as well. If we were going veggie, we’d opt for the fresh mozzarella salad with pesto and pickled tomatoes, gnocchi with mushrooms, rooftop veg and truffle oil and roasted artichoke with quinoa and preserved lemon, with chocolate fondant for afters. You get all this plus a glass of Veuve Clicquot for $560 per person – or shell out $720 a head for four courses along with free-flow champers.

Aberdeen Street Social

Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton’s UK import will be serving up a four-course British-inspired Valentine’s Day menu on the 14th at $550 per diner, to include a welcome glass of Prosecco paired with oysters with caviar and champagne mignonette. The dinner follows with a choice of roasted French quail with pancetta and crispy quail egg or Cornish crab with BBQ tomato. Choose between turbot with langoustine or roasted venison loin for the main, ending with strawberry Eton mess or chocolate tart for dessert.

For those couples looking for something a bit out of the box on Valentines’s Day, DiVino is where it’s at on the 14th. Celebrity pastry chef Jeffery Koo will be treating guests to a live chocolate-painting performance on a human model. He’s also created a special Golden Ring of Love dessert ($98) for the evening, artisanal lollipops and handmade heart-shaped chocolate bonbons. Alongside all this sweet stuff, a DJ will be on the decks playing contemporary jazz. À la carte menu options – including cheese fondue and plenty of black truffle – are available should hunger pangs strike.

At $520 per person, Chef Stefano Rossi’s San Valentin’s menu is perfect for couples who love to share their food, Lady in the Tramp style. Yum Cha’s red bean rose buns and pineapple lovebirds are too cute for words. You can learn how to make your own at this creative dim sum specialist’s Valentine’s Day workshops, scheduled for 11–14 February from 3:30–5:30pm.
