Many of us are blessed to have the luxury of domestic help in Hong Kong. Often, it takes some practice to bridge the gap between a helper’s understanding of cuisine and the employer’s owing to the obvious differences in food cultures. Frog Michaels’ cookbook A Helping Hand: Delicious Recipes in English & Tagalog strives to make this transition easier by offering comforting and healthful recipes in both English and Tagalog so that helpers can become better acquainted with these dishes in their own language – sometimes things simply get lost in translation. We especially enjoyed the section on recipes for kids, making mealtimes with little ones so much easier.

Frog Michaels resides in Singapore and is a mother of two. She is also a food and society writer for Singapore Tatler and a regular contributor to Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris magazine.

The book is now available at all Bookazine shops. A donation to Pathfinders, a charity dedicated to helping migrant mothers and their children, will be made upon the sale of every book sold in Hong Kong.
