Let’s get the sentimental stuff out of the way first. Sure, she may nag, embarrass and drive you downright mad at times, but most of us have a special place in our hearts for our mothers, who’ve been there for us through thick and thin, nursed us when we’ve been feeling poorly and cooked us meals, night after night. We think being a good mum is perhaps the world’s toughest job – and one that doesn’t receive the credit it deserves. So, as this year’s Mother’s Day rolls around, we grateful daughters and sons here at Foodie have tracked down the finest epicurean offers out there to pamper these very special women in our lives. In no particular order:

NOBU

This is an oldie but goodie; we never grow tired of Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s creative Japanese cuisine – plus the InterCon’s harbour views are hard to beat. The options are many and varied this Mother’s Day at NOBU. There’s a five-course set lunch on the 14th from noon until 2:30pm ($648 per person or $848 to include unlimited champagne and sake; mini set for kids under 11 at $300) and an eight-course omakase dinner menu ($1,188 per person). But the best of the bunch for us is the Japanese afternoon T-Set, offered on the 13th and 14th, with an abundance of savoury (umami) and sweet treats. Go for the Simply T-Set ($528 for 2) – with a choice of Rishouen green tea, matcha drinks or coffee – or, if your mum doesn’t mind getting a bit tipsy, the Fizzy T-Set ($868 for 2), which includes glasses of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut.
