While I’m all for eating clean, sometimes you just have to cave and indulge to stay sane! Located in The Langham hotel, Main St Deli is the perfect combination of casual and chic, a spot to enjoy a hearty treat meal (or an upscale hangover cure!). Taking a seat in one of the comfy leather booths, the space is dimly lit and buzzing with the promise of a delightfully kitsch American diner experience: think beers, milkshakes, ice cream floats and towering Reuben sandwiches.

Serving guests since April 2001, Main St Deli celebrates its 16th birthday by introducing a menu revamp. Burgers are the bread and butter of any good deli, but Main St Deli has taken a twist on ordering your favourite with the introduction of the emoji burger menu. Embracing the novelty of technology, the new look features a QR code that guests simply have to scan with any mobile device to gain access to this fun selection. All made to order with high-quality ingredients – and served with home fries or salad – there is something for every taste, including the delectable Australian Wagyu M5 ($238), the southern fried chicken ($178), the battered or grilled fish ($188) and the OMG veggie burger ($168).

In addition, Main St Deli features new dishes such as the soft-shell crab bao ($138), made of crispy soft-shell crab, fried quail egg, red cabbage, pickles and coriander stuffed inside a soft bun, and the Baja-style soft fish tacos ($178), which are wrapped with sole, avocado, coriander, lime, tomato, purple cabbage and Baja dressing. Ideal for sharing, these dishes are tasty, tangy and ever so moreish.

For serious eaters, The Ugly Duckling ($128) presents a generous serving of curly fries and smoked duck breast topped with black truffle, Parmesan cheese and house gravy. Equally tantalising is The Steak Caprese ($198) with succulent grilled Australian strip-loin steak, bacon, mozzarella cheese, romaine lettuce, basil and balsamic reduction sandwiched in a choice of Turkish sesame or grilled marble rye bread.

Offering America’s favourite Buffalo wings ($118/six pieces) in a variety of spicy flavours – original, atomic, hellfire and suicide hot – Main St Deli ups the ante with a suicide hot wings challenge. Fearless contestants who can finish six suicide hot wings in five minutes and withstand five more minutes of after-burn will have their wings on the house and their pictures placed on the Hall of Fame.

Guests will still be able to reminisce over classic favourites like the traditional matzah ball soup ($90).

On the dessert menu, the new signature French toast ($128) is a must try – the soft, caramelised brioche dripping with maple syrup and fresh berries is divine – or try the seven-layered chocolate cake ($128). And the spiked milkshakes (from $80) are the perfect way to finish off your meal with a buzz!
