For health-conscious brunchers in this foodie city, there are plenty of delicious options that aren’t made with sugar-loaded, carb-heavy ingredients. Whether you’re up for a light bite or a big meal full of hearty greens and lean proteins (and of course avocado!), all the offerings below are extremely fulfilling and well prepared.
Here are my five must-try healthy brunch dishes in Hong Kong:
Avocado on toast with poached egg, radish, pea cress and garlic-parsley purée ($105) – Elephant Grounds
Whether you’re looking for an easy meal or a chill-out place, this relaxed, Japanese-inspired café in the Star Street area is perfect for you. They also serve good coffee, and their poké bowl hits the spot come dinnertime.
8 Wing Fung Street, Wanchai, 2778 2700 (see other locations here)
Smashed avocado and poached egg with mayo, ricotta cheese, radish and almond on honey-malt toast ($108) – Cupping Room
High in healthy fats and with a deliciously smooth texture, avocado toast with silky poached egg is a no-brainer for a health-conscious foodie like myself. This dish has just the right portion size, making it ideal for noshing either before or after a workout. Cupping Room is all about coffee, which makes it a great spot for java lovers as well.
32 Swatow Street, Wanchai, 2371 2338 (other branches in Central and Sheung Wan)
Smashed avocado with French feta, mint, lemon and poached eggs on multigrain toast – Catch
Simple and satisfying, a brunch at Catch will never leave you feeling hungry. You can even add smoked salmon or a mini granola cup if you need a little something extra. Grab a Melbourne-style breakfast in Kennedy Town every weekend and on all public holidays.
95 Catchick Street, Kennedy Town, 2855 1289
The Angler – croissant, organic bread, organic soft-boiled egg, smoked salmon, spicy shrimp, homemade herb ricotta cheese and granola parfait with seasonal fruits ($155) – Le Pain Quotidien

This hearty offering from Le Pain Quotidien’s breakfast menu includes (basically) everything you want to start the day off right. If you’re feeling indecisive but aren’t ready to tackle their epic Belgian waffle, we recommend this.
Shop G40–41, G/F, Lee Tung Avenue, 200 Queen’s Road East, Wanchai, 2520 1801 (see other locations here)
Healthy Breakfast (~$100) – The Peak Lookout
Not a usual breakkie place, but as its name suggests, the Healthy Breakfast at The Peak Lookout offers guiltless, delicious brunch food, serving up a large portion of fruits together with plain yoghurt and muesli. Visit on a clear day to get stunning panoramic views of HK. Breakfast is served only on weekends and public holidays from 8:30–11am.
