If you‘re a hiker, you‘ll be familiar with Hong Kong‘s annual Barclays Moontrekker in October, a unique hiking/running/endurance event that takes place in the dark of night, where it‘s all about beating the sun‘s rise over Lantau Peak. Each year, the funds raised by participants go towards supporting a charity, and this year it‘s The Nature Conservancy, the world‘s largest conservation organisation.
Leading the wine world in environmental and social sustainability, Wines of South Africa is a natural partner for Moontrekker and will be hosting a three-course, wine-paired dinner showcasing South African beef from Biltong Chief and an auction in support of the charity on Tuesday, 5 September 2017 at Bungalow in Central. South African Greg De ’Eb, director of Crown Wine Cellars, will auction off raffles, wine lots, luxury experience and more.
On the big race day (well, night) itself, WOSA will have a marquee at the Moontrekker finish line to offer participants a selection of South African wines, biltong and boerewors rolls (similar to hot dogs but better!) – what a way to end the race. The top three winners of each class will also be awarded a bottle of MCC (South African sparkling wine).
