A recent lunch at The Apron Oyster Bar & Grill at Galaxy Macau showed how delicious it is! The Apron is participating in the Delicious USA promotion (on until 21 July 2019) to highlight some of the American food and beverages on their menu. Our sampling of the featured items was a real treat of affordable indulgences from the United States.
The Apron is located at the Galaxy complex near the Okura and Banyan Tree hotels. It has a café-like setting and is great for people-watching as you relax and enjoy some tasty food.
The eatery has an impressive variety of steaks and seafood from all over to live large in Macau on a moderate budget.
We started off the meal with two oysters of the day ($18/piece) each. The oysters were fresh and salty, just the way I like them! After splitting a yummy baby beet salad ($88), we moved on to the main event.
American beef has earned a reputation for its fantastic taste, so we each ordered a US steak cooked medium rare, as recommended by the chef.
I had the 260g rib-eye from Brandt ($378). It was juicy and delicious. I really liked the texture and flavour of the beef, which was strong enough so that it wasn’t masked by the additions of chimichurri and black pepper sauces to the plate.
One option with the featured steaks is to add a grilled half Boston lobster ($168). We figured go big or go home, so lunch unexpectedly became surf ‘n’ turf. The steak and the lobster were both perfectly cooked, not overdone to lose any of the flavour.
We were both impressed by the variety of preparations available for the steak and lobster. The Apron offers eight different additions to enhance each item, so you can spice it up with chilli or black pepper or make it even richer with garlic butter.
As if the lunch wasn’t already gluttonous enough, we paired it with a full-bodied California Zinfandel. The wine paired very well with the steak. Zinfandel’s deep and strong flavours weren’t overpowered by the beef or any of the toppings.
Verdict
We were left more than satisfied by the Delicious USA items that The Apron has to offer. The featured steaks, seafood and wine are available on the lunch and dinner menus. Just looking at the pictures makes me want to go back for more…
