Love people-watching? Shoreditch’s floor-to-ceiling glass panes are perfect for observing the hustle and bustle of Kennedy Town. Not to mention the edgy decor and chalk graffiti are ideal Insta backdrops. Enjoy the smashed avocado toast here, pairing it with smoked salmon, or upgrade to an eggs Benedict. REACTION Coffee Roasters

Nestled in the small community of Happy Valley, cosy brunch spot REACTION offers an impressive menu, ranging from pasta to crossaintwiches. Compared to other brunch spots, the pricing is quite reasonable and the serving sizes are more than generous – the smoked salmon and avocado sandwich is served with two thick slices of sourdough and is loaded sky-high with toppings. Other avo toast options include avocado and baked mushroom toast and the Green Day breakfast, both equally stunning.

NINETYs

Avocado toast… with a glow-up. Layered with kale, beetroot yoghurt and flowers (!), NINETYs’ avocado toast is definitely a work of art. Did we mention the base is a cinnamon raisin bagel? The salty-sweet combo of this dish elevates it to another level. If you’re looking for a classic avocado toast fix though, this may not hit the spot – too many flavours are fighting for the limelight here.

The Coffee Academics
The Coffee Academics puts an Asian twist on its avocado toast by topping it with nori. The smashed avocado in this one isn’t exactly generous, so big eaters may need to order something else on the side. Also be careful when transferring the poached egg onto your toast – we can’t afford to waste any yolk porn here.

Baked
Baked takes the path less travelled when it comes to avocado toast. Loaded with a forest (literally) of coriander and paired with tomato relish and a sunny-side-up egg (with an option to change to poached), this avocado toast may be a bit too interesting for some people. Nevertheless, they are extremely generous with their avocado and the bread is toasted just right.

DOUBLESHOT by CUPPING ROOM
Just like its decor, the brunch options at DOUBLESHOT are modern and classy. Their avocado toast is delicately layered with chorizo, burrata, Japanese egg yolk and togarashi mango (i.e., fancy mango chunks). The avocado action is, unfortunately, on the skimpy side – hopefully, the breathtaking views of Central can compensate for that.

Life Toast

While this may not be the kind of avocado toast we usually have in mind, Life Toast makes some stunning sandwiches that deserve a mention. Their Korean-style sandwiches overflow with filling (hello, Insta!) and come in creative variations such as kimchi pork belly and black truffle portobello mushroom. The sous-vide chicken breast and avocado with onsen tomago sando features juicy chicken breast paired with a generous layer of smashed avocado – salivating yet? All toasts can be upgraded to a set for a small surcharge.
