Sweet soup surprise
Serves: 1–2
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- prepackaged red bean sweet soup (or make your own following the instructions here)
- Chinese New Year pudding of your choice
Method:
Microwave:
- Cut the pudding into ¾-inch cubes.
- Line a microwaveable dish with baking paper.
- Heat the cubed pudding, covered, for 5–10 seconds on high.
- Reheat the prepackaged sweet soup as per instructions (or make your own).
- Add the pudding to the sweet soup and enjoy.
Stove:
- Heat or make the sweet soup as per instructions.
- Cut the pudding into ¾-inch cubes.
- Add the cubes to the simmering sweet soup for at least 5 minutes.

Serves: 2

Ingredients:
- Chinese New Year pudding of your choice
- 4 slices dry brioche bread
- ½ cup milk
- 1 egg
- dash of vanilla extract
- dash of ground nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp (or more to taste) maple syrup
Method:
- Beat together the milk, egg, vanilla, nutmeg and salt in a bowl.
- Thinly slice the pudding, then cut to match the length of the brioche slices.
- Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Dip each slice of brioche into the egg mixture and sandwich the pudding in between two slices of bread.
- Cook in the hot butter until golden, 2–3 minutes per side, adding more butter as needed.
- Top each slice with 1 tbsp maple syrup.
Pudding parfait
Serves: 2
Prep time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- 3 slices pineapple (fresh or tinned)
- Chinese New Year pudding of your choice
- 500ml coconut ice cream
- 1 tbsp Okinawa black sugar
- 1 tsp boiling water
Method:
- Add the boiling water to the sugar, mix well and set aside for use later.
- Slice and dice the pineapple, leaving a half slice whole to garnish.
- Cut the pudding into ¾-inch cubes.
- Line a microwaveable dish with baking paper.
- Heat the cubed pudding, covered, for 5–10 seconds on high.
- Place the softened pudding into a glass container, then scoop 1 tbsp ice cream on top.
- Add 1–2 tbsp diced pineapple, then alternate between pudding and ice cream until you’ve filled a glass.
- Top the parfait with a large scoop of ice cream.
- Drizzle the cooled sugar syrup on top. Garnish as desired.
